Lemongrass Cymbopogon citratus
Lemongrass is a tropical grass cultivated in Sri Lanka as a herb and for the extraction of essential oils. The leaves and stalks contain essential oil and give out a full-bodied, lemonlike, zesty aroma. Lemongrass is used for flavoring food, especially in Thai cooking, beverages and in making vitamin A and natural citral. It is also commonly taken orally or applied directly to the skin or inhaled as aromatherapy.
